Things that should help procrastination but don’t

Right now in Hamilton there is several inches of snow. I would say about 5. It has been coming down hard and non stop. The roads are ugly, buses have stopped and become stuck, while other buses are delayed. With all of this being taken into account, does the university decide to cancel night classes so that the people who are commuting don’t have to take a risk to get here? NO! The what the hell. What gives someone the right to decide that others should risk their lives to get here to write midterms and attend night classes or labs. I know that other places in Canada have it worse but then again this is not something Hamilton is used to.

This amount of snow should constitute a “snow day”. Remember those? Well apparently in the university world there don’t happen. This amount of snow should be a sign to professors and such that they should give their students a rest and not stress them out anymore then they are right now especially with the ever increasing assignments and not to mention midterms. This is just getting frustrating. And to top it off… I am getting tired of having to change my sock because snow got in my shoes from walking to one building to another.

All in all snow is something that should help procrastination but doesn’t!

University Student Rant #2- Homework

Ok so here’s the deal. I still have 2 out of the 4 pages for my essay to do that is due tomorrow. I have kinda started them but not really so it’s going to be a late night for sure. In addition to doing this I have a newly assigned 6-9 page essay and multiple 2 page reports that just keep coming. All of the assignments are getting bigger because of the reading week.

I don’t understand why university professors think that someone can handle all of this work at one time. There is no was a student can to the essay in 3 days with the essays from other classes. Don’t forget to factor in the time you need you eat, sleep and go to class. Plus is someone has a job that is a lot to juggle. I have 3 night classes a week so I am already tired when I get home. The last thing I want to do is be up to all hours of the morning working just to get the readings and the essay done. I am missing out on sleep and that is effecting everything I do.

Well I guess I should get back to working on the actual paper now and stop putting it off. All I can say is that I hope that somewhere out there, a prof is reading this and considering lightening their course load.

Ok just an update: I am sitting in “The Nest” with my good friend/ drinking buddy/ tard-wring-go-getter-and-eater Jessica. We both have papers due tomorrow. I am almost half way since the last post. Jess hasn’t taken the books out of the plastic yet. Procrastination at its best!

Battle of the Cell Phones

So right now I have a paper to so for Cultural Studies and I am stuck between my mom and sister while they argue about what phone she can and cannot get without a contact. I think I am going to just leave and have a shower. I think that is a good reason as to why I couldn't finish my paper before I went out. When I get back I will post the results of the cell phone war.

Awww damn...

So today I realized that I haven't started my religion papers now. Im not too worried though because they are only 600 words. So my goal for this morning was to get up and go to the gym at 9:30. Other things got in the way of that though so I ended up going like 45 minutes later then expected. I had already put off submitting my application to become a CA. and when I got back and after showering it was too late. I did manage to get access to the link and submit an app. I emailed the office just to let them know and I hope I still have a chance. The only reason I waited to submit it in the first place is because I was waiting on a reference from my building manager. This is the one time that procrastination failed me. But oh well at least I submitted it.

UPDATE!!!:
My application was accepted even though it was late. Ha ha I win procrastination!

University Student Rant #1- OSAP

Its time for another rant of sorts. I think i should make this a weekly thing. Ok so hmm where should I start. OSAP!!!! Ok for those of you who dont know the deal with OSAP and me here it is short and sweet. Pretend OSAP is a person. This would be a conversation between me and OSAP:

"apply for me"
"ok"
"Nope. Sorry your parents make too much money even though one works in the auto industry so fill out all there forms if you want to fight for it and list you expenses and why you need me"
"Sure ok. Whats another mountain of paperwork right? Hmm i need to for my $6000 tuition not including residence and I am currently unemployed because i need to be on OSAP to get a job here, oh and did I mention that i need a bari sax for my second year program and that costs me 15 grand?!?!?!"
"Nope. you don't qualify. You don't need the money. Too bad :("
"Fuck you OSAP"
"Have a nice day :) apply next year so I can shut you down again"

So ya OSAP thinks I don't need money. Oh well. I guess I need to find a job somewhere in Hamilton that I can do and balance with my mountains of work. This makes me really angry. I wish OSAP would just ask you why you need the money instead of basing it off of what your parents make becasue I can't pay for all of this as a student on my own. This is crazy and I don't know many students that can pay for all of this.

Introduction

Ok so I decided to start a more public blog because LiveJournal just wasn't doing it for me. This blog is basically what I do instead of work and it is my procrastination module. This blog will be a compilation of University Student Rants along with things I am doing instead of work. I am going to start with something form my old blog and I shall go from there.
